Swing City holds swing dances on the 2nd, 4th, and 5th Saturday of the month with live music for enthusiastic swing dancers of all ages and experience levels. Founded by Marie Lawlor and Dan Mezrich in 1994 and open ever since, we make it our goal to keep swing dancing alive and kickin' by teaching dance lessons, supporting bands, and simply by bringing swing-dance lovers together in a fun and energetic party!

For that, in 2005 we were honored with the prestigous Best of Boston Award for Best Dance Club. In 2008 Swing City changed hands, and after some shuffling around, we moved to a new home, the Somerville City Club ballroom/dance hall, a perfect venue to entertain 200+ swing-dance lovers.
In 2010, we started holding our dances at the brand new West Cambridge Youth Center, built on the site of the original dance hall where Swing City was held in its earlier years. More about the venue here.
So come join us as we dance the night away to the tunes of New England's top swing bands, swing orchestras, and jump blues bands. Many of our regulars are East Coast Swing and Lindyhop dancers, but we welcome everyone. Salsa, Tango, West Coast Swing, Jitterbug, and we also offer a welcoming venue for those people who simply enjoy our schedule of fantastic live music we bring from around New England, New York, and beyond.
Come for a free dance lesson, provided by some of the best and entertaining instructors in the area. Bring a date, your posse, your bachelorette party, and office outing, or just come by yourself and meet people!

We're conveniently located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, tucked in between Boston, Belmont, Arlington, Lexington, Watertown, Medford, and Malden, but people regularly come to Swing City from as far away as Providence, RI, Connecticut, Western Mass., New Hampshire, and Maine. We're also surrounded by Tufts University, MIT, Harvard, Boston University (BU) and Boston College (BC), who all have great swing/ballroom programs and lots of enthusiastic dancers. We're MBTA accessible too, have plenty of free parking, and all ages are welcome.
But more than anything, we know how to throw a party!
